Abstract
PURPOSE:To achieve a measuring device of length with high accuracy which can be used for all types of lines, by providing a clock transmitter, and a plurality of sensors along the direction of steel material conveying and providing a speed operating device which can cope with changes in conveying speed. CONSTITUTION:A detection signal of sensors 2-8 arranged along the conveying direction of a steel material 1 is inputted to a digital controller 12, and the output is given to a speed operating device 15 operating conveying speed between the sensors 2-8 as a speed operation timing and to a counter 11 as a count timing of clocks from a clock transmitter 10. Registers 13, 14 hold the counted clocks until they are inputted to a computer 16. The computer 16 measures a length L of the steel material 1 based on an output signal P of the registers 13, 14, speed signal V from the speed operating device 15, and sensor status S from the digital controller 12. Thus, a length measuring device for steel materials usable for all types of steel lines can be achieved.
