Abstract
782,880. Retractive switches. ALLEN, A. A. Dec. 20, 1955 [June 7, 1955; June 16, 1955], No. 36518/55. Class 38 (5). In a snap-action retractive switch a prestressed switch blade 10 is transversely flexed across its support by the two sides 20 of a double-sided actuator 19 so as to longitudinally flex the blade, thereby causing a movable contact 13 to snap over from one fixed contact to another, and a member 25 impinges the blade below the actuator to reduce blade chatter. The support is provided with outer ridges or lands 8a and the outer edges'of the blade provide resilient restoring means. The blade 10 has bifurcated arms which are held together by the silver contact/rivet 13 in order to prestress the blade, flanges on the rivet being swaged down into adjacent holes 45 in the arms.
