Abstract

781,689. Bowden mechanism. PACIFIC SCIENTIFIC AEROPRODUCTS, [formerly STURGESS, Inc.]. Feb. 14, 1956 [Feb. 16, 1955], No. 4636/56. Class 80 (3). The ends of a Bowden cable and its sheath are arranged to be quickly detachable. The sheath 2 has secured thereto at its ends by swaging or prick-punching sleeve members 3, 31 which are grooved at 6, 6<SP>1</SP> to receive C-shaped washers 7, 7<SP>1</SP> which act as abutments for securing against tubular members 16, 16<SP>1</SP> in fixed mounting plates 19, 19<SP>1</SP> by nuts 23, 231. The inner cable 1 has terminal rods 4, 41 secured to its ends which rods slide in the sleeve members 3, 3<SP>1</SP> and have small split washers 5, 51 mounted in grooves at their ends for engagement in recesses 14, 15 of actuating and actuated members 11, 11<SP>1</SP> respectively. Alternatively the rods 4, 4<SP>1</SP> may have a transverse cylindrical portion for engagement in the recesses of members 11, 11<SP>1</SP>. Fig. 4 shows an arrangement for connecting two lengths of a Bowden cable in the above described manner.
