Abstract

The process of preparing graft acrylonitrile polymers of the parent Specification is modified in any of the following respects: (1) in the preparation of the preformed homopolymer, polymerization is continued until from 70 per cent to less than 90 per cent of the monomer has polymerized; (2) the polymerization of the mixture of acrylonitrile and a monoethylenically unsaturated monomer is continued until from 70 per cent to less than 90 per cent of the mixture has polymerized; and (3) the acrylonitrile is copolymerized with a mixture of two monoethylenically unsaturated monomers. If desired polymerization may be carried out by continuous or continuous batch processes as described in Specification 781,437.
