Abstract

780,517. Shaft couplings. LAYCOCK ENGINEERING, Ltd. Oct. 21, 1955 [Feb. 17, 1955], No. 4722/55. Class 80 (2). A coupling between shafts 1 and 2 comprises rubber inserts 12 arranged in mating recesses 3, 4 in members 6, 7 secured to the shafts. These inserts of circular, square, elliptical or diamond crosssection are compressed with a material alteration of crosssectional shaft into recesses 3, 4 and secured between the end wall of member 6 and a plate 8 secured thereto. The projections 10, 11 between the recesses are rounded and clearances may be provided therebetween and axially between members 6 and 7 to allow of angular or parallel mis-alignment between the shafts. Two such joints may be arranged in series.
