Abstract
779,053. Portable vessels; bottles. WALLER, W. M. and WALLER, P. H. Oct. 28, 1953, No. 29846/53. Drawings to Specification. Class 66. [Also in Groups XIV and XV] A metal-reinforced vessel, e.g. a cup, tumbler, dish, basin, vase, bottle, flask, jar or petrol container, comprises a metallic structure, having raised areas and apertures or recesses, and non-metallic, e.g. plastic, material of the polyvinyl or polythene series moulded as a connected whole on to opposite sides of the structure and into the apertures or recesses, so that the raised areas are exposed flush with the moulded material to give inlay effects on at least one side of the vessel. The metallic structure may have an imperforate portion, which may form the rim, mouth or handle of the vessel. The mouth of a bottle, flask or jar formed in this manner may be screw-threaded to receive a screw-cap. The metallic structure may be preformed to the general shape of the vessel and the non-metallic material may be laid on by compression- or injection-moulding. The resulting vessel may be ground or polished. Different inlay patterns may be formed on opposite sides.
