Abstract
Phosphate rock, containing calcium carbonate, is treated with the filtrate resulting from mixing dilute calcium chloride and the quantity of sulphuric acid equivalent to the amount required for the neutralization of the calcium carbonate in the rock. The calcium chloride is returned for reaction with the sulphuric acid while the rock, freed from calcium carbonate, is recovered and may be neutralized with sulphuric acid by any of the usual methods.
