Abstract

778,787. Respiratory appliances. CHIRANA, NARODNI PODNIK. Feb. 23, 1955, No. 5419/55. Class 81(2) Anaesthetic apparatus for the supply of two different anaesthetic agents has control members so interconnected that as the' proportion of one anaesthetic is increased the proportion of the' other is decreased. Anaesthetic liquids are contained in receivers 8, 9 and vapour passes up through ports 14, 14<SP>1</SP> in the main body 1 and thence to the outlet, at the left, to the patient. The .body 1 encloses two tubular control members 2, 2<SP>1</SP> each having a port 10, 10<SP>1</SP> to co-operate with the ports 14, 14<SP>1</SP> respectively and the tubular members have interacting stepped portions 12, 12<SP>1</SP>, engaging with a predetermined lost motion, so that as one port 14, 14<SP>1</SP> is opened the: other is closed. A further aperture 13, in the body, co-operates with the space between the stepped portions 12, 12<SP>1</SP> and admits air to the body from atmosphere. It is so placed that when both anaesthetic ports 14, 14<SP>1</SP> are closed the air admitted is a maximum. -Further features of the apparatus comprise a non-return valve 15, a rebreathing bellows 5, an excess pressure: relief valve 7 and a connection 6 for an additional gas supply.
