Abstract
The invention comprises xenyl tricresoxysilanes, which are useful as liquid heat-transfer compositions. In any molecule, the cresoxy groups may be the same or different isomers, and the silicon may be ortho, meta or para to the xenyl group. They may be prepared by reacting xenyltrichlorosilane with a cresol or a metal salt of a cresol, or an xenyl trialkoxysilane with a cresol. The examples describe the preparation of (1) m-xenyl tricresoxysilanes, prepared from a mixture of meta- and paracresols; and (2) p-xenyltricresoxysilanes, from meta- and para-cresols.
