Abstract
777,946. Cheese. DAIRY SUPPLY CO., Ltd. Dec. 20, 1954 [Feb. 9, 1954], No. 3765/54. Class 84. [Also in Group XXX] Curd pieces are dried and cooled by carriage along two or more belt conveyers, arranged alongside one another and inclined in opposite directions, the curd being carried up one conveyer and allowed to fall onto the lower end of the other conveyer(s). With the apparatus of Figs. 1 and 4, curd from a feeder F falls on to a central belt conveyer 10, is carried up to an inverted-Y shoot 11, is carried by conveyers 12 to a shoot 13, and recycled to fall again on to the belt 10. Salt may be added at the beginning of operations from a vibrator 14. After sufficient treatment of the curd, the shoot 11 may be swung away to allow the curd pieces to fall over the upper end of the conveyer 10, down an inclined plate and into a mould, or, alternatively, sliding gates 17 on the inverted-Y shoot 11 may be opened and movement of the conveyers 12 reversed to feed the curd pieces into cheese moulds 16. The apparatus may be in an air-conditioned chamber. The conveyers may run in refrigerated tunnels.
