Abstract
777,512. Wringer mops. WEGER, K. April 5, 1955 [April 21, 1954], No. 9974/55. Class 19 A wringer mop comprises a U-section metal member 2 attached to the lower end of a handle 1, to which is affixed a plate 4. The lower edge 5 of the plate 4 is curved over and forms a fixed jaw for clamping and wring- ing the mop 7. A roller 10 supported by. a frame 9, 11 which is pivoted to the member 2 forms the other clamping jaw: The mop 7 is supported from a wringing lever 16 by means of a wire support 19: the wring- ing'lever 16 normally lies within the U- section member 2 and is pulled up for wringing by means of a handle 17. When the lever 16 reaches the position shown in Figs. 1, 4 a pin 25, Fig. 4, engages a loose cam 24 which forces spring 23 out of engagement with a toothed sector 22 carried by lever 15. The lower end of lever 15 is linked with the frame 9, 11 carrying roller 10, so that releasing the lever 15 allows the roller 10 to move out of engagement with the mop 7. The mop can then be removed for replacement, the wire support 19 comprising, for this purpose, two separate wires riveted together (Fig. 5, not shown). Upon returning the wringinig lever 16 to normal position, the edge 21 engages the lever 15 and so returns it and the roller 10 to normal position. The sides of the plate 4 are flanged over and support a plate 8 enclosing the mop. In a modified construction, Fig. 6, the fixed plate 8 is replaced by a movable presser plate 29, the upper edge of which carries pins 30 which slide in a guide comprising the edges. of plate 4 and wires 31: the lower edge of the plate 29 is attached to the frame 9 by means of wire links 32.
