Abstract

777,364. Winding yarn. SCRAGG & SONS, Ltd., E. Nov. 23, 1955 [Oct. 14, 1954], No. 29608/54. Class 120 (2). [Also in Group XXIV] In a reciprocating mechanism for a textile winding or like machine of the type including a cross-head having a cam stud adapted to engage a peripheral cam groove in a cam wheel, the cross-head is provided with an aperture in which is located the cam stud, there being in the aperture between the cam stud and the cross-head a cushioning element of resilient material to absorb impacts received by the stud. As shown, the cross-head reciprocates on rods 10 due to the cam stud 15 engaging the cam groove 19 of the traverse cam 18 of a winding machine. Between the wall of the aperture of the cross-head in which is located the cam stud 15, and the stud 15 itself is located a sleeve 17 of relatively tough rubber which retains the stud in the aperture and absorbs the impact at the points of reversal of the cam.
