Abstract

776,407. Valve oscillator circuits. TELEFONAKTIEBOLAGET L. M. ERICSSON. May 25, 1955 [May 25, 1954], No. 15163/55. Class 40(6) An oscillator comprises an amplifier having negative and positive feedback circuits the positive feedback circuit including a transformer and thermistor combination feeding its output across part of a tuned circuit coupled to the input circuit. As shown an. auto transformer 2 providing negative feedback at the cathode feeds a regenerative voltage through a thermistor 3 to a tuned grid circuit 4, 5. The transformer may have sufficient D.C. resistance to provide the bias for the valve and D.C. may either be blocked from the thermistor by means of a capacitor or the circuit constant may be chosen such that the thermistor helps to stabilize the D.C. current. The tapping point on the tuned circuit is such that the resistance of the thermistor is much greater than the apparent resistance of the tuned circuit so that the feedback voltage is proportional to the thermistor resistance. The thermistor may alternatively be connected to a capacitive tip on the tuned circuit (Fig. 3, not shown) or a piezo electric crystal may replace the tuning capacitor 5 (Fig. 4, not .shown). With alternative amplifier arrangements it may be desirable to derive the input for the amplifier from tappings on windings 2 and 4 (Fig. 2, not shown).
