Abstract
1,207,013. Antenna amplifier. SABA SCHWARZWALDER APPARATE - BAU - ANSTALT AUGUST SCHWER SOHNE G.m.b.H. 29 Aug., 1968 [21 Oct., 1967], No. 41388/68. Heading H3T. An antenna 8 is coupled to an amplifier 9 by a negative resistance circuit comprising an amplifying element such as a transistor 1 connected as an oscillator but prevented from oscillating by negative feedback. The negative feedback is provided by emitter resistors 6, 7 of a high value, which stabilize the working point of the transistor 1, and a capacitive voltage divider 4, 5 improves stability. A transformer 2 has its primary connected to the collector of transistor 1 and is tuned to the received frequency, the secondary providing the effective negative resistance connected between the antenna and the amplifier 9. The stabilizing feedback of transistor 1 is arranged to be varied as the tuning is changed, to maintain uniform feedback over the tuning range. The negative resistance RT may be arranged (Fig. 2, not shown) in parallel with the amplifier 9 input. The common base transistor of the amplifier 9 has a high emitter resistance for stability, and a tuned transformer couples its collector to a receiver (11). The negative resistance circuit is said to effectively increase the antenna absorption surface area.
