Class 100(4) In a power operated typewriter, type arms 7 are selectively actuated by a driven cam 2 through a common spring-loaded rocker arm 4 and a spring-returned push rod 6. The power of the spring 5 and the shape of the cam 2 are so designed that the rocker arm always remains in contact with the cam while the push rod 6 leaves the end 4b of the rocker arm towards the end of the stroke so that the arm 7 prints under its own momentum. The force of the imprint can be adjusted by varying the shape of the cam either by providing a series of separate cams or by moving the cam lengthwise of its shaft, in which case a graduated variation which can be shown on a scale can be procured. In a modification, particularly for page-printing typewriters, a cam follower is interposed between the cam and the rocker arm extending the width of the page plus any longitudinally adjustment that may be possible with the cam. ,
