Class 75(2) and 75(3) A lampshade comprises a detachable fabric cover 4 in the form of an endless band stretched over a rigid framework and having extensible resilient members incorporated in or attached to its edges 5, 6, at least one of the edges, e.g. the edge 6, being passed over the rim of a collar lying within the volume defined by the framework and comprising e.g. a ring 9 secured by struts 10 to the upper ring 2 of the framework, and retained on the collar by the extensible resilient member 8 which tends to pull the edge 6 over the collar away from the rim. The cover 4 is frusto-conical and rings 7, 8 of rubber or like material are held in hems at the edges 5, 6. The edge 5 is positioned by being passed over the lower ring 1 of the framework and is drawn inwardly and retained by the rubber ring 7. The shade may be mounted on a stand comprising three wire members 13 having feet formed by rubber balls 12 and supporting a ring 15 on which the shade rests. The members 13 converge towards and pass through a triangular frame 14 adapted to carry an electric lamp holder (not shown). In an alternative construction the shade is cylindrical and the main framework comprises two rings of the same diameter each supporting a concentric inner ring to which a further ring is secured to form a collar on which an edge of the cover is retained by the resilient rubber. The framework of the lampshade may be of metal, synthetic resin, or other material, and the ring members thereof may be of other than circular shape, e.g. elliptical or square or other polygonal form.
