775,051. Rollers. MASCHINENFABRIK RUTI AKT.-GES. VORM. C. HONEGGER. April 13, 1955 [Oct. 11, 1954], No. 10680/55. Class 42 (2). A pressure roller for a sizing machine has an outer sleeve 5 supported on a core 2, 3 by one or more internal support means 4 inset from the sleeve ends and acting to resist bending of the sleeve when the core is bent by pressure D acting on the sleeve, the sleeve being sealed at or near its ends by elastic and/or yieldable means disposed between the arbor and the sleeve. As shown, two support means 4 in the form of spacer rings are used; alternatively, additional rings may be provided, or a single annular member may be used extending over a large section of the arbor inside the sleeve. The sleeve sealing means may consist of an elastic gasket 8 pressed against a shoulder 10 of the core by an adjustable disc 9; or it may consist of a radially yieldable ring 11 connected in liquid-tight manner to the core end 3 and to the sleeve. Sleeve 5 has a covering 7 of rubber, plastic, wool, felt, fabric or other yielding material.
