774,960. Plate heat exchangers. HANSEN, E. D. Aug. 4, 1955, No. 22420/55. Class 64(3) In a plate heat exchanger in which opposed. plates 1 together form passages for one or other of the heat exchanging fluids, each plate is provided with corrugations extending along the plate across the direction of fluid flow thereover, alternate corrugations 7 being stamped in a direction opposite to that of the other corrugations 7a with respect to the plane of the plate, so that a smaller undeformed plate portion is left between adjacent corrugations as shown. The corrugations 7, 7a may extend linearly or in a zig-zag manner across the plate and preferably the crests of one set of corrugations, e.g. 7a, are level with the undersurface of a marginal packing groove provided in the plate (Fig. 4, not shown).
