Abstract

774,510. Seats. PETERS & CO., Ltd., G. D. Aug. 29, 1952 [May 21, 1952], No. 12842/52. Class 52 (2). Relates to reversible vehicle seats of the kind that move away from the side of the vehicle, when the seat is rotated, by means of a link 17 having one end 18 pivoted to the fixed seat base and the other end 20 pivoted to the seat turntable structure at a point eccentric to the axis of rotation. According to the invention a spring loaded locating latch 25 carried by the base bears against the periphery of a circular ring plate 11 forming part of the turntable structure and automatically engages one or other of two diametrically oppositec recesses 27 to preven rotation of the seat unti the latch is withdrawn by actuation of a pedal 40 The turntable structure consists of a pair of parallel rails 7 carrying the ring plate 11 which lies between a lower pair of fixed parallel rails tha form a guide for the ring plate when the seat moves away from the vehicle side and upon the upper surfaces of which the rails 7 slide during rotation of the seat.
