Abstract

774,434. Drawing boards; book-keeping clamping papers. PATMORE, F. J. Jan. 27 1956 [Dec. 15, 1954], No. 36299/54. Classes 11 16 and 146(1). A drawing or the like board is provided with a clamping member for holding in position forms or sheets laid thereon and with a lifting mechanism for lifting the clamping member away from the board into the open or release position, the lifting mechanism being connected by a Bowden cable or similar cable to an actuating device so that the lifting mechanism can be operated to lift the clamping member by actuation of the actuating device at a point remote from the board. As shown in Fig. 3 the clamping member is fitted to one side 18 of the board and includes a flat part 12 and a bent over part 13. The part 13 is provided with slots 14 which cooperate with pins 16 on the board to restrict the clamping member to a limited vertical movement. Fixed to the part 13 or vertical racks 27 which co-operate with pinions 23 mounted on the band. The pinions 23 co-operate with a rack-bar 29 operated by a Bowden cable 36 against the action of a spring 34. Thus, when the cable is pulled the pinions are rotated anticlockwise and the clamping member is raised. In a second embodiment the clamping member is of T-cross-section and the rack-bar operates bell crank lever pivoted on the band and which bear against the upper section of the clamping member remote from the board. The Bowden cable is preferably operated by a foot-pedal and the board may also include a roller for holding a roll of carbon paper and an adjustable slide.
