On manually releasing the supporting means the weight of the glass causes the linkages to move to the full-line positions of Fig. 7 thereby opening the mould, the glass sheet now acting as a strut. As the sheet sags into the concavity of the mould. the linkages move from the full-line position of Fig. 7 to that shown in Fig. 6 and in this position the ends of the glass sheet are in contact with the mould end sections 14, the supporting means 66 having moved to below the top surfaces of the sections 14.
