773,420. Tractor power-lift mechanisms. MASSEY-HARRIS-FERGUSON Inc. March 11, 1955 [March 11, 1954], No. 7286/55. Class 79(1). [Also in Group XXXII] The invention relates to a spring assembly A (see Group XXXII) for the hydraulic control system in a tractor power lift mechanism. The spring assembly A is mounted between an abutment 13 rigid with the tractor, and a plunger 12 connected through suitable linkage with a movable valve plunger 30 controlling the supply of fluid pressure to, and exhaust of fluid from, a ram 31 connected to the hitch linkage of the tractor. The other end of the plunger 12 is connected at 48 to an implement hitched to the tractor. The assembly A comprises two compression springs 10, 11, mounted between abutments 18, 19, rigid with the plunger 12 and on respective sides of the abutment 13. The position of the abutment 19 may be adjusted initially, axially of the plunger 12, in order to set the degree of pre-load of the springs 10, 11. The spring 11 is placed under stress on a compression load being applied to the plunger 12 by the link 18, and its degree of deflection is limited by a sleeve 27 surrounding the plunger 12. The spring 10 is stressed by tensile loads applied by the link 48, and its deflection is limited by a sleeve 26. The position of the sleeves 26 and 27 is adjustable by the rotation of a sleeve 25 in threaded engagement with the abutment 13.
