Abstract

773,242. Percussive tools. MASCHINENFABRIK R. HAUSHERR & SOHNE GES. Feb. 3, 1955 [Nov. 8, 1954], No. 3228/55. Class 124 A percussive tool shank has at least one radial projection and a shock absorbing collar of non-metallic resilient material set around the projection and contacting the shank on either side thereof. As shown, a shank 1-2 has a projection 3 in the form of an integral radial rib formed thereon and may have grooves 6 formed one on either side of the projection. A collar 5 of resilient material, e.g. polyaddition, polymerization or polycondensation products having a Shore hardness of 85 or more, is fitted about the projection and makes contact with the shank. In a modification, Fig. 3 (not shown) a plurality of radial projections may be formed near the end of the shank and the resilient material provided round the projections and connected between them, the part nearer the end of the shank being continous and lying in a groove.
