Abstract

773,200. Pulse mixing circuits. PYE, Ltd. May 3, 1955 [May 3, 1954], No. 12800/54. Class 40(6) Figure 1 shows a trigger-pair two stablestate circuit which is used as a pulse mixing stage. Negative going short duration pulses, Fig. 2 (a) and (b), which define the leading and trailing edges respectively of a train of short duration pulses are applied at A and B to the grids of discharge-tubes VIB, VIA respectively so as to periodically change the state of stability of the trigger circuit and produce positive output pulses across load R as shown in Fig. 2(d). Longer duration negative pulses, Fig. 2(c) are periodically applied to the grid tube VIB at C so that during their incidence tube VIB is maintained non-conductive and the short pulses of Fig. 2(a) and (b) are ineffective. Thus longer duration output pulses are interspersed on the output waveform or terminal D as shown in Fig. 2(d) all the pulses in the train having a substantially constant amplitude. The control grids are connected to earth via diodes M1, M2, as described in Specification 717,849. The circuit may be used for generating the line blanking pulses in a television waveform and mixing them with the frame blanking pulses.
