Abstract

771,211. Harvesting beet. GRUSE, H. J., [trading as GRUSE MASCHINENFABRIK, A.]. Aug. 2, 1955 [Aug. 21, 1954], No. 22118/55. Class 6(3). A beet harvester comprises a topping and a digging tool 5, 6 arranged sequentially in the direction of travel of the harvester, each tool being associated with a separate transverse conveyer to carry the respective product transversely of the crop-row being harvested. The machine comprises a wheeled frame 1 towed by a tractor drawbar 4. Each tool 5, 6 is followed by a deflector 7, 7a which feeds the product on to a part of a longitudinally-partitioned endless conveyer 8 running transversely of the line of travel of the machine and delivering to receptacles 12, 13 for tops and beet. The conveyer is driven from the tractor through a shaft 10. In modifications, delivery is by separate parallel conveyers and the crop and tops are discharged into separate vehicles running alongside.
