Abstract

770,701. Stockings. ROSSLER, W. Dec. 23, 1954 [May 3, 1954, Sept. 21, 1954], No. 37279/54. Class 141. [Also in Group VIII] A layer 2 of foamed rubber or similar material which will grip the leg is provided on the inside of the welt of a stocking in order to maintain the stocking in position on the leg of the wearer. A portion 3 of the stocking between the welt and the knee is also made relatively elastic to accommodate the pull exerted when the knee is bent. The material constituting the layer 2 may be ribbed on the inside to assist gripping of the leg. The portion 3 may be knitted integrally with a subsequently attached to the stocking and may comprise crinkled or highly twisted yarn. Alternate courses or groups of courses of Z and S twist yarns may be knitted to provide the portion 3. Alternatively rubber threads may be worked into the portion 3.
