Abstract
770,446. Shuttering for casting concrete. KWIKFORM, Ltd. March 29, 1955 [April 9, 1954; Nov. 11, 1954], Nos. 10433/54 and 32626/54. Class 20(2) Metal shuttering for use in the formation of concrete and like road surfaces and for forming or shoring up the sides of trenches or foundation excavations, consists of elongated shuttering elements 10 of channel section connected end-to-end by means of bolts 16 each captively retained by a dished member 18 welded to a closure strip 12 across one end of the channel sectioned element 10 and being longitudinally displaceable whereby the bolt head 15, which is of oval shape, may be passed through similarly shaped aligned holes 17, 24 formed respectively in the closure strip 12 and in the end closure strip 13 of the adjacent shuttering element, the bolt 16 being rotatable so that it may be locked axially in position, a nut 21 being provided on the bolt to secure the connection, the nut having radial arms 22 adapted to be struck with a hammer in order to rotate the nut. To secure the shuttering elements 10 to .the ground vertically adjustable spikes 31 are provided, which are secured by wedges 34 in V-shaped guides 28 welded to the head flange, of T-sectioned reinforcing members 25 welded to the shuttering elements 10.
