[Also in Group XXX] In a wire-drawing machine the wire is attached to a chain on the drum by wedge-shaped jaws 3, Fig. 1, in a bracket 1 coupled to a shackle 8, and lugs 9, Fig. 3, are provided on the bracket 1 or shackle 8 to engage the drum 10 and hold the jaws 3 substantially tangential to the drum. The jaws 3 are pivoted to a block 4 which is pressed by a helical spring 7 to keep the jaws together. The jaws are released by a lever 11 pivoted on the bracket 1 and having a projection which engages the block 4.
