Abstract

An aqueous perspiration-inhibiting composition comprises (1) a chloride, bromide, iodide or nitrate of hafnium or zirconium or a corresponding oxy-salt, or a mixture of any of these, (2) a basic aluminium compound of formular Al2(OH)6-nXn where X is chlorine, bromine, iodine or a nitrate radical and n is 0.8 to 2, (3) urea in an amount to prevent gelling and between 5-50 per cent by weight of the composition, and (4) water constituting 25-90 per cent of the composition, the pH being from 3 to 5. The aluminium is present in the atomic ratio of 3.5 to 1.5 parts to each part of zirconium and/or hafnium. Bacteriostatic, germicidal and/or deodorants may be added such 2 : 21 - dihydroxy - 3 : 5 : 6 : 31 : 51 : 61 - hexachlorodiphenyl methane and quaternary ammonium salts. The active ingredients may be combined with conventional cream, lotion or liquid bases.
