769,978. Electric correspondence control systems. GENERAL ELECTRIC CO. May 13, 1955 [May 13, 1954], No. 13923/55. Class 40 (1). In an electric tracer head for automatic copying machines two pairs of cored primary coils 4, 5 and 14, 15 are disposed at right angles and supplied with voltages in quadrature, the stylus carrying a cored secondary coil 29, normally symmetrical with respect to the primary coils, but deflectable in the plane of the four primary coils so that a voltage is induced in coil 29 whose components in phase with the 2- phase supply to the primary coils are indicative of the extent and direction of the deflection.
