Abstract

A door fastening comprises the combination of a body part 3 having at one side a pushbutton guide 6, a bolt 4 slidable in the body part 3 having at one side a transverse recess 9 which is flanked at one side by an inclined surface 10, a spring 7 acting on the inner end of the bolt 4, a push button 11 slidably supported in the guide 6 at right-angles to the bolt 4 and having at its inner end a conical or rounded surface to cooperate with the surface 10 to retract the bolt in opposition to the spring, and an integral tongue 16 bent up from the body part 3 and engaging a second recess 15 in the bolt to prevent detachment of the latter from the body part. The inner truncated conical end of the button 11 is hollow and contains a ball 13 urged outwardly by a spring 12 which is stronger than the spring 7. The ball is retained in the button end by peening over the end of the latter. One or two tongues 16 may be bent-up from the edge or edges of a hole 17 in the base of the body part 3 which is of rectangular extruded section. The outer end of the guide 6 is flared.
