Abstract

769,447. X-ray apparatus. PHILIPS ELECTRICAL INDUSTRIES, Ltd. July 22, 1954 [July 23, 1953], No. 21424/54. Class 98(1) A diagnostic X-ray apparatus comprises a counterbalanced carriage sliding on a vertical column carried by a trolley and supporting a ring which can rotate about a horizontal axis through its centre and an external vertical axis, said ring supporting a concentric rotatable inner ring which latter is provided with two guide sleeves each carrying a slidable arm for supporting the. X-ray tube and viewing means (including image amplifier) respectively, there being a controlling mechanism so that the axes of the X-ray tube and viewing means remain in alignment and directed through a fixed point when the supporting arms are displaced. In the apparatus shown, the column 2 (Fig. 1) supports the slidable carriage 7 which causes a supporting plate 11 rotatable about the vertical axis 10. The plate 11 includes arcuate arms 37 extending on either side of the carriage and passing tnrough the head 38 on the carriage, which head is provided with locking means 39. The outer ring 13, which is supported on the plate 11 for rotation about horizontal axis 12-12a, carries the concentric inner ring 14, which can be rotated by handwheel 24. The inner ring carries guide sleeves 15, 16 in which the arms 17, 18 slide (see also Fig. 8). Arm 18 carries X-ray tube 20 and arm 19 carries the viewing means 19. When the arms 17, 18 are displaced, the common axis of the X-ray tube and viewing means is kept in alignment and passing through the point 22a by means of the parallel linkwork shown in Fig. 8. The arms may be displaced by turning wheel 67 which rotates the yoke 61 about a journal on the outrigger 40. Specification 769,444 is referred to.
