Abstract

767,756. Hydraulic shock absorbers. FICHTEL & SACHS AKT.-GES. Aug. 10, 1954 [Sept. 2, 1953], No. 23217/54. Class 108(3). The reservoir space of a hydraulic shock absorber is defined by a hollow cylinder 18 surrounding a working cylinder 14, and a hollow cylindrical cooling head 20. Cooling fins 26 are formed integrally with the cooling head which may be a magnesium alloy casting. The angular divergence of the space between adjacent fins is from 25 to 30 degrees. Valve mechanisms 24, 25 in the piston and base of the shock absorber, respectively, are so arranged as to result in a circulating flow of liquid through the shock absorber via a passage 28.
