766,193. Centrifugal and axial-flow pumps and blowers. LAPP & CO., AKT.-GES., E. Nov. 4, 1954 [Sept. 30, 1954], No. 31980/54. Class 110 (1). [Also in Group XXXV] A pump for a gaseous or liquid medium comprises a casing having an inlet and an outlet, and an impeller mounted on a shaft and integral with the rotor of the driving motor, one end of the shaft being disposed adjacent the inlet and the other end adjacent the outlet, at least one of the ends being located outside the coaxial inlet and outlet. The pump shown comprises an inlet 2 and an outlet 3, coaxially arranged for connection into a pipeline. The impeller 6 is unitary with the slotless non-wound rotor 5 of the asynchronous driving motor. The shaft 8 intersects the pipeline axis at an acute angle, preferably 20 to 30 degrees, and is journalled in bearings 9, 10. A shaft extension 13 of square or other polygonal shape can be turned to facilitate starting, after removal of a cap 12. Preferably, the cap 12 is transparent to permit observation of the direction and speed of rotation.
