765,895. Knitting. BEAUTIFLUTE, Inc. Nov. 9, 1954, No. 32460/54. Class 74 (2). A knitted fabric is composed wholly of a single material or of a combination of materials and is made by first knitting a small group of consecutive wales 11 with a degree of looseness and a small group of consecutive wales 12 with a degree of tightness and repeating this pattern of knitting in alternate equal groups of consecutive wales to produce a pleating effect, and subsequently treating the complete fabric with steam to shrink it to approximately one-third of its original size. A fluted fabric, as shown in Fig. 3, is thus produced. By combining two portions of fabric, fluting in the one portion will be at right angles to the fluting in the other. The fabric may be knitted of wool, rayon, silk, or nylon or other plastic material.
