Class 81(2) In order to provide a cast-forming bandage with one-way stretch properties, so that it may readily adapt itself when it is fitted over irregularities in the body contours, the base fabric is-formed from parallel chains of knitted loops 10, linked by zig-zag threads, 15, extending between the chains. If the. fabric is pulled along the length of the chains the loops tighten and prevent stretching, but if the pull is applied-in the perpendicular direction, distortion of the chain allows considerable stretching. Other forms of loops in the knitted chains may be used and the linking threads may extend across one or more chains.
