Abstract
765,613. Granulating metals. MANNESMANN AKT.-GES. Jan. 31 1955 [March 26, 1954], No. 2833/55. Class 82(2) Metal, particularly iron, is atomized by pouring it as a stream 3 into an annular envelope 2 of water, the air being excluded from the metal by a tube 5 and the resulting particles being received in a trough 4 of water. A water cone angle of 4-15 degrees with a water pressure of 10-30 atmospheres gauge yields a spattered metal powder. With a cone angle of less than 4 degrees and a water pressure of 3-6 atmospheres gauge spherical grained powders are obtained.
