Abstract

765,412. Conductors. HOHN, R. Feb. 25, 1955 [March 18, 1954], No. 5738/55. Class 36. A flexible conductor comprises a plurality of concentric layers 1, 2, 3 of wires and/or groups of wires, and intermediate open layers of non- fibrous wear-resistant packing material between adjacent layers to prevent frictional contact therebetween. The packing material may be disposed around some or all of the wires, for example every wire in layer 2 and alternate wires in layer 3, or it may comprise an open spiral 4 and braid 5. The packing may consist of material having a polyamide or a polyurethane base. In a water-cooled conductor enclosed within a sleeve, each wire or group of wires is provided with a packing.
