Abstract

764,959. Handle fixings. CLISSOLD, Ltd., F. and CLISSOLD. J. S. Jan. 12, 1955 [Jan. 12, 1954], No. 842/54. Class 61 Relates to handles for mirrors, brushes &c. in which a tang or rod 3 is connected to a back plate 2 for the mirror &c. and extends through a frame 4 surrounding the back plate to form the support for a tubular hand-grip 1, the latter being passed over the rod or tang and provided with a cap 6 for engaging the frame, a terminal knob 7 being screwed on the end of the tang or rod to secure the parts together. The invention consists in forming the hand-grip 1 from a metal strip which is embossed or otherwise embellished in the flat on one surface and is then rolled into tubular form with its edges meeting and in which the cap 6 and knob 7 are formed with conical or tapering grooves 12 adapted to receive the ends of the hand-grip 1 when the knob is screwed up. Each conical groove 10 is formed on the inside of a circular, overhanging flange 11. The cap 6 and knob 7 may be turned from a solid bar or formed by pressing from sheet metal.
