[Also in Group XXI] A load-transferring device of the kind comprising a lift arm structure 1 rotatably mounted on a vehicle chassis 3 for swinging movement in a vertical plane through an angle of at least 180 degrees is characterized in that the structure 1 carries at least one toothed member 5 arranged coaxially of the axis of rotation of the structure, the or each member 5 being in engagement with a second toothed member 11 movable by an hydraulically actuated system. The or each second toothed member 11 comprises a toothed rack forming a connection between two pistons 9, 10, each slidable within one of a pair of aligned spaced cylinders 7, 8. The device 13 at the end of the arm may be a scoop, grab, lifting fork or scraper blade.
