Abstract
763,324. Tractor power lift mechanisms. FORD MOTOR CO., Ltd. Nov. 25, 1954 [Nov. 25, 1953], No. 34211/54. Class 79(1). In a tractor hydraulic control system having a single-acting ram and a constantly operating pump the output of which is normally by-passed to a sump, the by-pass is gradually closed to control the acceleration of the ram when a control valve is operated to admit liquid to the ram. A pump 11 draws oil from a sump 9 and normally discharges through a conduit 12, a low-pressure regulating valve 17 and a conduit 16 to the sump. On operating a control valve 20 to uncover a port 22, oil flows through conduits 13, 22a to a shuttle valve chamber 14a. A shuttle valve element 15 is moved to the lift gradually closing a port 15a and thus restricting flow through the conduit 16, and the output pressure of the pump increases. Liquid is supplied to the ram 10 as soon as the pressure is sufficient to overcome a check valve 18. Movement of the control valve to the lift allows oil to drain from the ram through conduits 19, 25, 16 to the sump.
