Abstract
761,931. Metal plates and sheets. DE WENDEL ET CIE. July 26, 1954 [July 28, 1953; June 19, 1954; June 19, 1954], No. 21760/54. Class 20(2) A metal panel comprising two substantially parallel metal sheets 2, 3 forming the sides of the panel and metal element 1, is characterized in that these elements have a small cross-section, extend perpendicularly to the plane of the sheets contact the latter only. along their edges and have a succession of sharp folds in planes perpendicular to the planes of the sheets, the elements 1 being electrically welded to the sheets 2, 3 at points of the edges of contact in the region of the folds. As shown in Fig. 1 the elements 1 comprise thin strips of metal folded in the form of broken lines. Alternatively they may be folded in zig-zag fashion (Fig. 2, not shown). The sheets 2, 3 are welded thereto at the points where the strips contact. In these regions the strips are folded upon themselves for strengthening (Fig. 4). As shown in Fig. 6 the metal elements comprise pillars 23 which comprise metal strips 24 folded upon themselves (Fig. 7). The pillars may also be formed of two folded strips 29 (Fig. 11) thus allowing them to be connected by metal strips 30, 31 which may be of a width less than the distance between the sheets 2, 3. Projection 27 may be formed on the ends of the pillars 23 for obtaining a good weld (Fig. 9).
