Abstract
761,391. Clamp fastenings. SELLARS, F. M. Feb. 14, 1955 [April 2, 1954], No. 9662/54. Class 44. A device for the attachment of a lamp to motor or other power-propelled vehicles comprises a pillar 3 having mounting means 1 for the lamp at the upper end thereof, in combination with a U-shaped clamp 4 having apertures 7, 8 in its flanges 5, 6 for the pillar to slide in and adapted to receive between the pillar and the clamp web 9, a bar 12 employed to support the pillar and provided in its web 9 with one or more setscrews 10, 11 whereby the pillar can be clamped between the walls of the apertures and the said bar to which the clamp is simultaneously secured through the medium of the pillar and the screw or screws. The bar 12 can be at right-angles to the pillar 3, in which case the apertures 7 and 8 are circular and are of the same diameter or of a greater diameter than the pillar 3 or alternatively the bar 12 can be parallel with the pillar 3 and pass through both of the apertures 7 and 8 which are shaped to accommodate both it and the pillar. As shown, the mounting means 1 is a platform having an aperture 2 for a spigot or screw on the lamp. In a modification a cap-like part may be fixed to the end of the pillar, this having a screw-threaded hole for receiving a screw on the lamp.
