761,154. Copy-milling; gear-cutling. PECKHAM, L. N. Jan. 24, 1955 [Feb. 4, 1954], No. 3336/54. Class 83 (3). A device for attachment to a fixed-spindle milling-machine for milling a non-cylindrical spiral surface on a blank B, comprises a frame 5 pivoted on a base 1, a blank-holding shaft 6 transverse to the pivot axis and having a threaded connection with the frame, cam-andfollower means 15, 17 acting between the shaft and the base, and means 21 for rotating the shaft. The work is indexed by a dog 25 on a hand-operated lever 23 and co-operating with holes in the nut 10. Small spiral-bevel gears may be cut, the teeth of which, however, will not be theoretically correct.
