760,522. Stoppering. AUTOPACK, Ltd. May 2, 1955 [May 4, 1954], No. 12903/54. Class 125(2). Apparatus for inserting headed stoppers 9 or tapered stoppers into bottles 12 comprises a table 4 provided with a transfer passage 8 through which the stopper is forced by a plunger 11 into the underlying bottle. As shown in Figs. 1 and 2, the stoppers are supplied to notches 6 formed in a rotating disc 5 which carries them upside down, with their-heads in contact with the table 4, to the passage 8. The stopper falls into the passage, being inverted as it falls. The passage has a flared mouth. Spring-loaded arms 18 on the disc 5 have projections 19 which bear on the stoppers being fed and are pressed rearwardly away from the stopper as the latter reaches the transfer passage. The bottle is justified below the passage between a notched block 16 and a resilient detent 17. In a modified form, a plurality of passages 8 and plungers 11 are associated with a rotating table and the feed disc 5 is disposed to one side of the table but overlies it in part.
