Relates to a liquid fuel combustion chamber for example of a gas-turbine engine comprising a flame tube a disposed within an outer air casing g and in which a fuel injector d is dis. posed on the axis of the flame tube at its inlet end, the injector being surrounded by an annular air passage e. According to the invention the flame tube has at its inlet end a nosepiece shaped to form an air passage h of such form that its outlet is of smaller diameter than its inlet, the passage being adapted to divert a quantity of air from the space between the flame tube and the outer casing into the annular air passage e around the fuel nozzle. The nose-piece comprises two hollow sheet . metal structures f, f<SP>1</SP>, the adjacent faces of which are shaped to provide the air passage h. Swirl vanes are disposed in the annular air passage e. The invention is applicable in the case of a plurality of flame tubes disposed either each in its own air casing or all in a common annular air casing.
