Abstract

A cleansing fluid for injecting into the intake of a gas turbine engine comprises an emulsion of equal parts of kerosene and water with the addition of an emulsifying agent known under the Trade Name of Texafor C.D. and 1 per cent of a wetting agent known under the Trade Name of Lissapol NXA. The Names Texafor and Lissapol are Registered Trade Marks. Another cleansing fluid contains a solution of 10 parts of Texafor F and 10 parts of Texafor C.D. in 17.5 parts of methyl cyclohexanol. For low temperature operations, e.g. below 5 DEG C.. two parts of this solution are added to 24 parts of kerosene and 26 parts of a water methanol mixture ( 55/45 ) by volume are added. For operations at a higher temperature, 26 parts of water are used in place of the water-methanol mixture.
