Abstract
758,887. Drying granular &c., materials. PREPARATION INDUSTRIELLE DES COMBUSTIBLES. July 7,1954 [July 8, 1953], No. 19932/54. Class 34(2). Apparatus for drying solid materials in bulk has a chamber 3 fitted with rows of elements 1, 2, over which the material trickles, and alternately inclined in opposing direction, enclosed in a casing 4 traversed by heated gases supplied through pipe 5 to discharge pipe 6 or inversely, the chamber 3 being supported each side by a knife-edge bearing 7 and submitted to an oscillatory motion by a crank 8 driving a lever 9 through connecting rod 10 so that the inclinations of the elements 1, 2 are periodically changed to cause sliding of the material thereon. The amplitude of the oscillations may be varied by a device on bearing 7 which alters the amplitude of oscillation of rod 10. Shock absorbers 19 are struck by chamber 3 at the end of each stroke to shake the layers of materials.
