Abstract

Human hair is bleached with an aqueous solution of hydrogen peroxide having a pH value between 3.5 and 5.5 and containing a quaternary ammonium salt. The pH value may be obtained with adipic acid. The composition may be buffered and stabilized with sodium stannate and sodium pyrophosphate. The quaternary ammonium salt may be cetyl dimethyl benzyl ammonium chloride, soya ethyl morpholinium etho sulphate, lauryl benzyl dimethyl ammonium chloride, stearyl diethyl benzyl ammonium chloride or octadecyl amido-ethyl-morpholino ethyl acetate.
