Abstract
758,549. Magnetic recording and reproducing apparatus. LICENTIA PATENTVERWALTUNGS GES. March 9, 1954 [March 12, 1953], No. 6835/54. Class 40(2) A method of producing an A.C. control signal from a D.C. impulse by means of a magnetic transducer 1 includes a local magnetic circuit 13, carrying an audio circuit approaching saturation, and arranged such that in the absence of a D.C. signal no A.C. enters the main circuit, but such that when D.C. passes through the main circuit second harmonic of the auxiliary A.C. is'produced, a series resistance being inserted into the auxiliary circuit to aid such purpose. The ratio of the series resistance to the apparent resistance of the auxiliary circuit is between 2 and 5. The apparatus is for use wherever control or synchronizing pulses are required. The pulses may be recorded on a tape 2 by the head 1 each time the circuit of a D.C. source 9 is closed, for subsequent reproduction and supply to a control point via an amplifier 11 and band-pass filter 12. The auxiliary magnetic circuit comprises two windings 14, 15 which may be balanced by an adjustable centre tapping on the resistance 17 or by separate series resistances (shown dotted in Fig. 1), one at least of which should be adjustable.
